      The Penguins have re-signed Alex Nylander to a one-year contract extension worth $775K AAV.

      Nylander spent most of the 2023 season in the AHL, where he had 50 points (25G / 25A) in 55 games. During his brief time with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he tallied two points (1G / 1A) in nine games. His one-way contract means the 25-year-old will be with the Penguins for 2024.

      O'Connor has missed the Penguins' previous two games with an upper-body injury but is expected back in the Penguins' lineup Thursday vs. Columbus. The 24-year-old had five goals, six assists, 61 SOG, 12 PIMs and a -3 plus/minus through 45 games prior to his injury.

      Nylander has 25 goals, 25 assists, eight PIMs and a +2 plus/minus in 55 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) and has been recalled on an emergency basis to Pittsburgh Tuesday. The 25-year-old returns to Pittsburgh, where he had a goal and two points in seven games earlier in the season.
