      Hudson Fasching has signed a two-year, one-way ($775,000 AAV) contract extension.

      Fasching had 10 goals, nine assists, 61 SOG, 10 PIMs and a +10 plus/minus through 49 games in his first season with the New York Islanders and has signed a two-year, one-way contract extension with an AAV of $775,000. The 27-year-old played in all six games for the Islanders in the playoffs this postseason, failing to pick up a point.

      Ilya Sorokin was in the starters' crease at Tuesday's morning skate.

      Sorokin allowed five goals on 29 shots (.828 SV%) for his third loss of the series as Carolina beat the Islanders 5-2 in their previous game. The 27-year-old has been solid despite his lack of offensive support throughout the series, with his 1-3-0 record, 2.96 GAA and .917 SV%. He will be hoping to keep the Islanders alive for at least one more game as he takes on Carolina, who was third in the NHL in shots per game (34.8).

      Alexander Romanov will be a game-time decision for Game 3 after taking part in morning skates (upper-body).

      Romanov has been out since April 1st due to an upper-body injury but is looking likely to rejoin the Islanders' lineup for Game 3 after taking part in their morning skate Friday. The 23-year-old bruising defensemen will make a welcome addition to New Yorks' back end as he had two goals, 20 assists, 100 SOG, 43 PIMs and a +13 plus/minus through 76 games during the regular season.

      Ilya Sorokin will start Game 3 Friday vs. Carolina.

      Sorokin allowed four goals on 36 shots (.900 SV%) as he took the overtime loss in Game 2 to go down 0-2 in the series but will start Game 3 Friday. The 27-year-old will be hoping for some more offensive support, as he has been sensational with his 0-2-0 record, 2.92 GAA and .932 SV% in these playoffs.
