The Hurricanes have signed Jesperi Kotkaniemi to an eight-year contract extension worth $38.56 million ($4.82M AAV).

Kotkaniemi cleared COVID-19 protocol on Friday and will be back in the lineup on Saturday.
Kotkaniemi missed three games while in COVID-19 protocol but will play Saturday in Minnesota. Kotkaniemi will replace Steven Lorentz and skate on the fourth line with Derek Stepan and Jordan Martinook.

The Hurricanes have acquired Jesperi Kotkaniemi from the Canadiens. The Hurricanes have given up a 2022 1st and 3rd round picks for signing Kotkaniemi to a one-year, $6.1 million contract via offer sheet.

Kotkaniemi will be a scratch for Game 4 vs. the Lightning.
