Hagelin is out indefinitely after undergoing an arthroscopic surgical procedure to address his chronic left hip on Monday.

Hagelin has been placed on the Injured Reserve after being held out of camp with a lingering lower-body injury. The 24-year-old was looking to bounce back after a down year in 2021-22 where he posted three goals and 14 points in 53 games while occupying the Capitals' bottom six throughout the season. The 11-year veteran will hope to return sometime this season and make an impact as he looks to reach 30 points for the first time since 2017-18.

The Capitals have placed Carl Hagelin (upper-body) in LTIR.

Hagelin has been out since November 7th due to an upper-body injury and his move to LTIR means he'll have to miss at least four more games. The move helps the Capitals financially, as they're able to recall reinforcements from Hershey (AHL) to help fill the gaps left by injuries to Hagelin, Nic Dowd and Nicklas Backstrom.

Hagelin is day-to-day with an upper-body injury; will not play Saturday.

Hagelin will come out of the Capitals lineup vs. the Golden Knights, so look for Chandler Stephenson to move up to the third line with Lars Eller. Hagelin, who has just five assists in 17 games this season, should be considered questionable heading into Monday's game vs. the Coyotes.

The Capitals have acquired Carl Hagelin from the Kings for a 2019 third-round pick and a conditional 2020 sixth-round pick.

The Capitals waived Devante Smith-Pelly on Wednesday, trying to clear space to add Hagelin, beefing up their bottom-6. The 30-year-old has tremendous speed but has struggled offensively this season, scoring just two goals with six assists (eight points) in 38 games.
