Brad Marchand will not play the second of the Bruins back-to-back Friday

Marchand is just returning from offseason hip surgery and will likely need a night's rest after returning almost a month ahead of schedule for the Bruins' 5-1 victory last night. Marchand did not miss a beat as he had two goals and an assist while playing 17:31 TOI. He will be back in the Bruins' lineup their next time out as this is nothing more than a day of rest.

Marchand (hip) hopes to return to the lineup at the end of November.

Marchand had surgery on both hips in May with an expected recovery timeline of approximately six months. That would put Marchand on track to return around American Thanksgiving. Expect the Bruins to roll with a top line of Taylor Hall, David Krejci and David Pastrnak while Marchand is out. He should miss roughly 20-to-25 games.

Marchand has been suspended for six games for roughing/high-sticking Tristan Jarry on Tuesday.

Marchand will be out until February 24th in Seattle and this suspension will leave the Bruins without Marchand and Patrice Bergeron on Thursday. Bergeron is dealing with an upper-body injury that he suffered on Tuesday. Jake DeBrusk will move up to the top-6 tomorrow with Marchand out.
